OUR HOMETOWN HERO
Commander Carl E. Megonigle, US NAVY
Today, we honor all veterans who have faithfully and sacrificially served our country. We are free because of your heroism and we salute you.
We want to highlight a special member of our Transcend family, Commander Carl E. Megonigle, US NAVY. Carl served as a rescue helicopter pilot for 26 years, which included the Vietnam war. Carl told us recently that in his entire Navy career, no one was lost or killed on his watch. Commander Megonigle also shared with us that he rescued hundreds of individuals over the years from destitute crisis points.
Today, one of his helicopters hangs in a Pensacola museum. Outside of combat, Carl was mostly stationed along the Mediterranean Sea, and rescued people all over that part of the world. When you see him, feel free to ask about his experiences. He is generous to share his stories however, be warned, you may need tissues. Carl is the epitome of a modern day hero. He has been there, done that, and seen it all.
Carl is presently 85 years old and is one of our most devout members here at TFC. When you see him this week, shake his hand, or give him a good old fist pump. Carl, we are so grateful for your service and it truly is a privilege to know you. You bring joy, fun, stature- and a little. mischief wherever you go and we are so thankful for you.
Hero status!
